In November we were contacted by Oliver the Race Director for the Mortimer Forest Trail Run, he wanted a green race and to be as sustainable as possible.
He had seen our patches that we had created for Gwent Wildlife Trust and wanted to enquire if the same process could be used for race numbers.
Historically race numbers are made from Tyvek however are not used for more than 1 race.
We came up with a process where the numbers used on the patches last for 80 washes, which is obviously a lot of races, the race numbers although more expensive than Tyvek pay for themselves after 9 races.
Feedback from runners in the race was (they felt lighter and were more comfortable, didn’t crinkle and were silent)
There is still some work to do and we are still gathering more feedback but watch this space as we create our own to hire out to small races.
